Philly League Season Begins
Philly League4th Annual Pabst Blue Ribbon Philadelphia Rock Paper Scissors City League Championship Series Season to Kick Off April 20th

The Pabst Blue Ribbon Philadelphia Rock Paper Scissors Championship Series (PBRPRPSCLCS) Planning Committee is pleased to announce that the 4th annual PBRPRPSCLCS will begin play on April 20th, 2009.  The PBRPRPSCLCS is looking to build upon the success of its' first three seasons, in which over 1800 competitors have attended nightly events in the hope of become the City League Champion, a title ultimately claimed in 2008 by player (and first female champ in league history) Mr. Is of team David Bowie's Package.

This series of events is fully endorsed by the World Rock Paper Scissors Society , recognized as the governing body of the sport throughout the world.  The PBRPRPSCLCS is pleased to welcome back Pabst Blue Ribbon, who will be returning as the Title Sponsor for the 4th consecutive season.  The PBRPRPSCLCS is also pleased to announce the return of Jim Beam as an Official Sponsor as well as welcome its' newest Official Sponsor, Whole Foods Market.

The PBRPRSCLCS will take place at a variety of venues throughout the city every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and the 2009 season will culminate with the City League Championship Invitational on June 13th at Connie's Ric Rac.  The Champion will take home the prestigious title, trophy and $1,000 prize.  In addition, over $500 worth of prizes will be awarded to the champions of nightly events as
well as over $500 in end-of-season prizes to reward the strongest players in a variety of categories throughout the regular season.  There is a registration fee of $1 per competitor at each event.

Player points for the league will be awarded depending upon how each competitor fares in nightly competitions.  Players are awarded 1 point simply for participation, with points increasing for each victory on the night.  The top 64 players in terms of points scored at the end of the season will be invited to compete for the PBRPRPSCLCS Championship title.

US Premiere of RPS: The Doc

Rock Paper Scissors: A Geek Tragedy will be making its US Premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California!

Cinequest, according to the always reliable Wikipedia, is the first major annual independent film festival held after the Academy Awards. Located in San Jose, California, Cinequest has grown to be one of the largest and most influential film festivals featuring new filmmakers.

The festival runs from Feb. 25 to March 8, 2009.
