This advertisement was representative of 1950's RPS promotional advertising in North America. It was used to remind people of the many relevant situations where RPS could be used to solve problems. This case being one where there is one piece of gum and two people. Of interest is the fact that the player who owns the gum is seen suggesting to the eager player on the left to play a game of RPS. The honourable nature of the challenger is highlighted considering that he seems to be the owner of the gum. This technique was typical of World RPS Society ads at this time as it shows that the player suggesting to play RPS was a "better" person who was willing to RPS for something rather than the non-player who seems desperately fixated upon the treat.
